The Pigato is a glass veranda, but with infilled sides and the front section it can become a glass garden room for even more use during the year.
Enjoy natural light and the joy of watching rainfall from underneath in those spring and summer showers we now seem to get all the time in the UK.

Deponti Pigato Aluminium Glass Veranda System

The Deponti Pigato is a luxury glass veranda system designed specifically for small to medium-sized patios and terraces. Combining premium aesthetics with a solid, steel-reinforced structure, it offers the perfect balance of style and strength for homeowners who want to enjoy their garden year-round without compromising on natural light.

What sets the Pigato apart is its refined "stepped" roof design. The aluminium rafters are positioned below the glass line, creating a flush, uninterrupted glass surface when viewed from the outside. This clever engineering delivers cleaner lines and superior water runoff compared to standard capped systems, making it a timeless addition to any property.

Customisable Aesthetics

Tailor the look of your veranda to perfectly match your home’s architecture with our choice of profile styles:

  • Gutter Styles: Choose between a Round Profile (smooth and modern) or a Classic Profile (Victorian-style moulded face) to suit your property's character.
  • Post Styles: Complement your gutter choice with either Half-Round or Square upright support posts.
  • Standard Colours: Available in 4 durable powder-coated finishes: Traffic White (RAL 9016), Cream White (RAL 9001), Graphite Grey (RAL 7024), and Jet Black (RAL 9005).

Engineering & Specifications

Despite its slim and elegant appearance, the Pigato is engineered for robust performance:

  • Steel Reinforced: A hidden steel strip inside the gutter profile provides the necessary strength to support a solid glass roof safely.
  • Clear Spans: The system supports a generous clear span of up to 4000mm between posts, keeping your view of the garden as open as possible.
  • Dimensions: Available in single units up to 7000mm wide and 4000mm projection.
(For wider installations, multiple units can be seamlessly coupled together—please contact us for a bespoke quote).
  • Glass Roofing: Designed for 44.2 (8.8mm) laminated safety glass. The glass panel widths vary (between 637mm and 748mm) depending on your chosen veranda width to ensure a balanced look.

Versatile Outdoor Living

The Pigato is more than just a patio cover; it is the foundation for a complete outdoor room. The system is fully compatible with our range of glass sliding doors and side walls, allowing you to easily upgrade to a fully enclosed "Garden Room" at any stage. Whether you want a simple shelter for your patio furniture or a complete glass extension, the Pigato adapts to your lifestyle.

System Overview: The Deponti Pigato is a high-specification aluminium veranda system designed for laminated glass roofing. It features a steel-reinforced gutter profile to support the glass weight safely. (Note: Wall and floor fixings are not included as these depend on your specific substrate).

Key Dimensions & Profiles

  • Back Wall Plate: 149mm height (Total height 185mm including the rounded profile cover cap).
  • Front Gutter Profile: Choice of Round or Classic (Victorian) style.
  • Support Posts: 110mm x 110mm. Choice of Square or Half-Round profile to match the gutter.
(Supplied at 2500mm or 3000mm length for cutting to size on site).

Ordering Widths Explained

The system uses specific beam spacing, resulting in an "Overall Width" slightly larger than the nominal size.

  • Overall Width Calculation: The total width is the beam spacing + 60mm (30mm overhang from centre-line to outside edge on both sides).
  • Example: A "5-metre" model has a nominal width of 5000mm + 60mm = 5060mm Overall Width.

Standard Finishes

  • Standard Colours: Traffic White (RAL 9016), Cream White (RAL 9001)*, Graphite Grey (RAL 7024), Jet Black (RAL 9005).
  • *Note: RAL 9001 (Cream White) is NOT available for the 7060mm width model.

Post Requirements Matrix

Due to the weight of the glass roof, the Pigato has specific post requirements. Please consult the table below.

Ordering Width (Overall) Projection Depth Number of Posts Required
4m (4060mm) All Projections (2500mm - 4000mm) 2 Posts

5m (5060mm) All Projections (2500mm - 4000mm) 3 Posts

6m (6060mm) All Projections (2500mm - 4000mm) 3 Posts

7m (7060mm) All Projections (2500mm - 4000mm) 3 Posts

Installation & Drainage

  • Roof Pitch: Designed for a fixed slope of 157mm per metre (approx. 9 degrees). The wall plate height and front passage height are directly linked by this fixed angle.
  • Rainwater System: Integrated internal drainage is standard. Water flows from the gutter down through the support posts.
    • Supplied with components for low-level discharge (out of the post bottom).
    • Drilling required on-site to position the outlet hole to suit your ground levels.

Coupled Systems

For installations wider than standard single units, verandas can be coupled together seamlessly. A support post is always required directly beneath the coupling point where two gutters join. (Note: Rainwater drainage cannot be routed through a coupling post).

The Deponti Pigato is designed for straightforward installation using a modular system. If you plan to install the veranda using the standard supplied post lengths (2500mm), you can use the reference table below to determine your exact fixing heights and spacing.

Standard Dimension Table

Use these dimensions to set out your site. (All dimensions in mm).

Roof Projection Beam Length Post Position
(Wall to inside face of post)
Passage Height
(Ground to underside of Gutter)
Wall Plate Height
(Ground to underside of Wall Plate)
2500mm 2470 2440 2500 2880
3000mm 2970 2930 2500 2960
3500mm 3470 3430 2500 3040
4000mm 3970 3920 2500 3110

Adjusting Heights & Cutting Posts

The system is designed with a fixed roof pitch (approximately 8 degrees). This means the height of the Wall Plate and the Front Gutter are linked. You cannot change one without changing the other.

If you need a lower height:

  • The Rule: If you lower the wall plate, you must lower the front posts by the exact same amount to maintain the correct roof pitch.
  • How to adjust: Simply cut the bottom of the aluminium posts using a chop saw (square cut) or sink the posts deeper into the ground.

Calculation Example

Scenario: You have a 3000mm projection roof but need a lower passage height of 2200mm (instead of the standard 2500mm).

  • Step 1 (Determine Difference): 2500mm (Std Height) - 2200mm (Desired Height) = 300mm difference.
  • Step 2 (Adjust Posts): Cut 300mm off the bottom of your posts.
  • Step 3 (Adjust Wall Plate): Lower your wall plate position by 300mm.
    Standard wall height 2960mm - 300mm = 2660mm New Wall Plate Height.

Ground Fixing & Foundations

The Pigato can be installed on various surfaces depending on your site conditions:

  • Existing Patio/Concrete: If you have a solid existing foundation, you can bolt the posts down directly using the Floor Mounting Base (Foot Plate) option. Chemical anchors or heavy-duty screws are recommended.
  • Soft Ground / New Paving: For grass, soil, or where no solid pad exists, we recommend our Pre-Cast Concrete Foundation Blocks.
    • These install below ground level for a neat, hidden finish.
    • Available with or without integrated rainwater drainage outlets.
  • Direct Concreting: Many installers choose to use the standard 3000mm post length and set the post directly into a concrete pad in the ground, leaving only the required height exposed.

The Deponti Pigato is a premium outdoor living system designed for durability. To ensure your investment remains protected, please review the warranty conditions and maintenance guidelines below.

Manufacturer's Warranty

The Deponti Pigato comes with a comprehensive manufacturer’s warranty covering material defects and finish quality:

  • Aluminium Construction: 5-Year Warranty on the integrity of the aluminium profiles.
  • Powder Coating: 5-Year Warranty on the standard powder-coated finish against peeling, cracking, or blistering.
*Exception: If installed in a coastal area or location with high salt/chemical exposure (e.g., swimming pools), the finish warranty is limited to 2 Years.
  • Moving Parts & Components: 2-Year Warranty on mechanical components and rubber seals.

Important Conditions

To maintain the validity of your warranty, the following conditions must be met:

  • Correct Installation: The veranda must be assembled strictly in accordance with the official Deponti Assembly Manual instructions.
  • No Modifications: Drilling, cutting (other than specified in the manual), or altering the structural profiles outside of the manufacturer's guidelines may void the warranty.
  • Use of Accessories: Only original Deponti accessories and fixings should be used to ensure compatibility and structural integrity.

Maintenance Guidelines

Regular maintenance is simple but essential to keep your Pigato looking its best and functioning correctly:

  • Cleaning (2x Per Year): Clean the aluminium profiles with lukewarm water and a non-aggressive, neutral cleaning agent. Use a soft sponge or cloth.
Warning: Never use abrasive scouring pads, high-pressure washers, or aggressive chemical solvents, as these can damage the powder coating.
  • Gutters: Clear leaves and debris from the gutter and downpipes at least twice a year (Autumn/Spring) to prevent blockages and ensure proper water drainage.
  • Glass Roofing: Clean the glass roof panels as needed with standard glass cleaner to maintain clarity and light transmission.
  • Visual Check: Annually check that all visible screws and fixings remain tight and secure.

How to Measure for Your Pigato Veranda

Measuring for your new veranda is straightforward, but accuracy is key. The Pigato is a modular system, meaning it comes in set sizes that can be cut down on-site if necessary. Use this guide to ensure you order the correct kit for your space.

1. Measuring the Width (Along the House Wall)

The "Ordering Width" refers to the standard model size, but the actual physical width of the roof is slightly wider due to the side overhangs.

  • Check Your Space: Ensure you have clear wall space free of downpipes, boiler flues, or gas outlets.
  • Total Width Rule: The total roof width is the Model Width + 60mm.
(e.g., A "5m" model is actually 5060mm wide. This includes a 30mm overhang on each side).
  • Custom Fits: If the standard sizes (4060mm, 5060mm, 6060mm, 7060mm) don't fit your space perfectly, order the next size up. The aluminium profiles can be cut down to an exact width during installation.

2. Measuring the Projection (Depth from Wall)

The "Projection" is the depth of the roof glazing, not the distance to the posts. The support posts sit slightly back from the front edge of the glass.

  • Post Position: The posts are set back from the front of the gutter. Use the table below to see exactly where the inside face of your posts will land on your patio.
  • Patio Depth: Ensure your current patio or foundation extends out far enough to bolt the posts down securely.
Ordered Projection Distance from Wall to Inside of Post
2.5m 2440mm
3.0m 2930mm
3.5m 3430mm
4.0m 3920mm

3. Checking the Heights (The "Fixed Pitch" Rule)

Unlike some systems, the Pigato has a fixed roof pitch of 8 degrees (a drop of 157mm for every metre of projection). This means the wall height and front walkthrough height are linked.

  • Wall Clearance: Check that the "Wall Plate Height" (see technical specs) fits under any first-floor windows or eaves.
  • Headroom: The standard walkthrough height under the front gutter is 2500mm.
  • Obstructions: Open any French doors or bi-folds that will be under the veranda. Measure the height of the door leaf when open to ensure it won't hit the underside of the roof beams.

4. Final Checklist

  • Obstructions: Are there any garden gates, fences, or trees that might interfere with the posts or roof overhang?
  • Floor Level: Is your patio level? If the ground slopes away from the house, you may need longer posts (3000mm) to maintain a level roof line.
  • Future Plans: If you plan to add glass sliding doors later, ensure your patio is perfectly level and solid concrete footings are installed beneath where the door tracks will go.
